Everything the beginner needs to know for 6th and 5th kyu is included on this dvd. Included are basics of ukemi, shiko, taijitsu, ken and jo suburi, and randori. Not just for beginners, this is also an excellent resource for instructors. Sensei’s Kayla Feder and Louis Jumonville assist in the demonstrations of techniques. 3rd and 4th Kyu Test Materials Pat Sensei explains and demonstrates all new materials beyond 5th kyu required for the rank of 4th and 3rd kyu. Assisting are Kayla Feder (6th dan Instructor, Aikido of Berkeley), Louis Jumonville (5th dan Instructor Aikido Hikari Dojo), Eric Winters (4th dan), plus other sempai from the San Leandro Dojo. Filming was done on location in Pat Sensei’s San Leandro Dojo as well as famous San Francisco areas such as the Palace of Fine Arts and on the beach.

Stockholm Sweden Seminar 2006 (2-discs)

Sweden is one of Pat Sensei’s favorite seminar locations, and she and Mats Alexandersson have known each other since way back as uchideshi in Iwama. Currently Mats Sensei is Chief Instructor of Stockholm Aikido Club Iwama Ryu. Pat Sensei conducted a three day seminar with a variety unique classes including kihon to kinonagare progression, oyowaza, randori with and without weapons, jodori/nage and tachidori. Over 3 hours of techniques.

England July 2006 Seminar

Recently Pat Sensei conducted her annual England/Wales summer seminar. This time it was hosted by Ray Gardiner Sensei, Instructor of Three Rivers Aikido. The seminar was held at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre and well attended. Pat Sensei taught an amazing 12 classes over three days, and unusually good weather allowed all weapons to be held outside with taijitsu inside.

Virginia Beach Seminar 2006

This seminar was conducted in May of 2006 and hosted by Scott Tomlin, Dojocho of Aikido of Virginia Beach Pat Sensei has a long history of training and teaching in the Wahington D.C. and Virginia area and this is the second year in a row to be hosted by Aikido of Virginia Beach. The first day consists of four sessions of Taijitsu, including a number of techniques from ryokatadori, yokomenuchi, ushiro ryokatadori, ushiro ryotedori, and ushiro kubishimi attacks. The second day was several hours of bukiwaza on the beach. Techniques included ken and jo suburi, basic awase practice, 5th kumitachi and 6-10 kumijo. As always Pat Sensei presents all techniques in a clear, precise and fun manner.

Aikido of Christchurch Seminar 2006

Pat Sensei has done many seminars in Australia and New Zealand, but this was her first seminar in Christchurch. She was hosted by Rob Wood, instructor of Takemusu Aikido of Christchurch. This two day seminar consisted of four sessions per day of taijitsu and bukiwaza. The five taijitsu sessions involved numerous techniques from attacks such as katate dori, ryote dori, yokomen, ushiro ryote katate dori Shomenuchi and Gyakute dori. The three Bukiwaza sessions involved Ken suburi, ki musubi no tachi, san no kumitachi Jo suburi,numbers 6 and 7 kumijo with henkas and connection.

Murmansk Russia Seminar 2006

Pat Sensei traveled to Murmansk for her first Russian Seminar where she was hosted by Alexandr Kravchuk, 4th dan Dojocho of Murmansk Iwama Ryu Aikido. The two-day seminar consisted of both taijitsu and bukiwaza. Taijitsu classes were centered around varieties of ushiro techniques from kihon to kinonagare, plus randori. Bukiwaza included kumitachi 1, 4 and 5 with henkas and kumijo 1 and 7 with henkas, plus tantodori. The timing of the seminar coincided with the 15th year Dojo Anniversary of Aikido of Murmansk. Pat Sensei, other Aikidoists, and local martial arts groups helped Alexandr Sensei celebrate the occasion with a variety of demonstrations.

Germany Seminar 2006

Pat Sensei returned to Mainz for another seminar at the scenic castle overlooking the Rhine. The seminar was hosted again by Jirka Friedl, 4th dan Instructor of Aiki Dojo of Mainz. Taijitsu classes were held in the Knights Room and weapons were taught outside in the Courtyard. Pat Sensei focused on koshinage techniques both for taijitsu and bukiwaza.

Pat Sensei conducts over 3.5 hours of Aikido in scenic castle overlooking the Rhine. The seminar was hosted by Jirka Friedl, 4th dan Head Instructor and Founder of Aiki Dojo of Mainz, in Mainz, Germany. Taijutsu classes were held in the Knights Room and weapons were taught outside in the Courtyard. Pat Sensei focused on ushiro techniques for taijutsu, and covered the 31 jo awase and various kumijo and kumitachi bukiwaza. This is a double disk set.

North Kingston, R.I., USA, November 2005

Alan Morton hosts Pat Sensei for this weekend seminar in North Kingston, Rhode Island. Morton Sensei is currently 4th dan and Dojocho of Ocean State Aikido. During the seminar Pat sensei combines weapons and taijitsu classes. Weapons include a variety of suburi and partner practices, with an emphasis on the first and third kumitachi kihon and with henkas. Kumijo 6, 7 and 8 are practiced step by step as kihon and with henkas, and the connection between kumijo 1 and 2 is demonstrated. Also, the concept of Riai is explored with two and four attackers, with bokken and taijitsu, and finally in relation to randori. Taijitsu techniques include numerous techniques from attacks from yokomenuchi, ushiro ryotedori, and katamenuchi. As always Pat Sensei stresses clear and concise basic forms with an equal balance of kinonage and advanced concepts.
